Iowans take pride in quality education, and Carroll is no exception. The Carroll Community School District and the Kuemper Catholic Schools offer numerous education opportunities for youth in the community. Both public and parochial schools provide excellent choices for area students. Collaboration between the two schools is enviable throughout the state. The parochial and public schools have shared academic programs: Agriculture Education with a very strong FFA component, Driver Education and several sports programs. The schools also share football, baseball, softball, and track facilities along with a shared transportation system.
Carroll Community School District has students at four attendance centers. Fairview Elementary (grades PK-2) provides basic academic programs that stress reading, science, writing, mathematics and social studies. Adams Elementary (grades 3-4) and Carroll Middle School (grades 5-8) provide comprehensive academic programs that stress continued development of basic skills in reading, writing, grammar, math, science, social studies, physical education and music. Carroll High School's curriculum includes course offerings in 18 different academic and vocational disciplines. The public high school provides students with opportunities to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities.


Kuemper Catholic Schools has three attendance centers in Carroll. The Kuemper Catholic School system promotes development of the whole person in a Christ-centered community. The pre-K through grade 8 teachers are trained in manipulative math as well as hands-on science and are committed to providing a multisensory curriculum. The Middle School offers exploratory courses in the fine arts, foreign languages and Algebra. Kuemper High School has a strong academic tradition that offers a fully accredited and diversified curriculum of 138 courses. Honors and Advanced Placement courses are also offered, as well as a multitude of extra-curricular activities in which every student is encouraged to participate.

BVU Graduate & Professional Studies located in Carroll was established in partnership with the Des Moines Area Community College in July 2009. Offices are housed on the DMACC campus in Carroll with evening courses offered on site and additional courses available online.
